The Heatons: An Area Guide
14 October 2025
Fresh off being named as one of the best places to live in Greater Manchester, today Böhm is in The Heatons, exploring why this group of suburbs is at the top of the list for 2025. Comprising Heaton Moor, Heaton Mersey, Heaton Norris and Heaton Chapel, these suburbs, located near Stockport, offer a strong sense of community, as well as independent shops, verdant green spaces, as well as great transport links to Stockport Centre, and Manchester City Centre.
Each of the four areas offers a strong sense of identity - from the large period homes and beautiful cafés of Heaton Moor; to the peaceful, suburban Heaton Mersey; the tree-lined roads of Heaton Chapel; and the creative, up-and-coming Heaton Norris. In this area guide, we share our favourite coffee shops, restaurants, parks and more, all of which contribute to the popularity of the area. If you’ve got a home in The Heatons that you’d like to sell with us, or are looking to move to the area, click here to get in touch, and here to learn more about our approach to estate agency.
If you arrive by train, you may notice the picturesque Heaton Chapel Station, a winner of the TfGM Award due to their traditional station name signs, poetry displays, planting and community led artwork. As well as great links by train, The Heatons are less than thirty minutes from the City Centre, meaning residents can enjoy the character and lifestyle of living in this popular suburb whilst being connected to the wider Manchester area. Furthermore, Heaton Moor Train Station is only a 10 minute journey from Stockport, offering links to even more to explore, including The Underbanks, Foodie Fridays in the Old Town, as well as galleries such as PINK.
